Virgin blog

This is my first blog ever. I was encouraged to do this by our oldest daughter, Melanie. She knows I like to rant and figured this would be a good forum for me. We'll see.
I like to rant, mostly about the political scene, sometimes about other issues of greater or lesser importance. When ranting in public I often listen to a conversation between friends, then take a "devil's advocate" stance to really get the conversation going, and hopefully make it interesting.
Many of my friends are Conservative Republicans and will vote that way regardless of who their candidate is. They say I'm a Liberal Democrat, and I let them think that. That's okay. Truth is, I'm not. I consider myself a Moderate Independent. They think I'm a LibDem because, as a Moderate, I appear farther to they left of them. That's because as a Moderate I AM further left of them! I like to say I'm a Moderate leaning left, but not enough to fall over.
How will I vote this year? I've suggested I'll vote Libertarian. I've said that a number of times to see what reaction I can get from my friends, particularly my Republican friends. They tell me that's a wasted vote, that if I vote Libertarian, it's an automatic vote for the Democratic candidate. I thought if I voted Libertarian, it was a vote for the Libertarian! If what the Republicans say is true, than there must be something drastically wrong with their candidate and their platform! Too, if McCain wins, was my vote still an automatic for Obama? I don't quite get that line of thinking. Anyone?
I suppose that's enough for my first blog. I like to write and i like to rant. So, maybe Melanie was right. Maybe this will be a good place for me.
See ya'.

OMG - Jack has stepped into the current century! I'm only barely ahead of him & only because I think I've figured out how to get a picture on my blog. This is what he does on his day off while I'm busy helping the devastated people of Galveston & Houston secure generators for 12 hours a day :)
